SaxonyElectoral Saxony in the 18th century boasted one of the finest musical establishments in all of Europe, between the Hofkapelle in Dresden and Bach’s musical activities at Leipzig’s Thomaskirche. The program includes secular cantatas by Johann David Heinichen and Antonio Vivaldi; a bassoon sonata by Johann Friedrich Fasch; keyboard works by J.S. Bach; and lute works by Silvius Leopold Weiss.

Featuring Joëlle Morris, mezzo-soprano; Gavin Black, harpsichord; Charles (Chip) Kaufmann, bassoon; and Timothy Burris, lute and theorbo.
